Five valleys converge on Bludenz, the Walgau, Montafon, Klostertal, Brandnertal, and Grosses Walsertal, making the town a natural crossing point beneath the Alps. More surprisingly, it is a chocolate town: a Suchard factory opened here in the late 1880s, and the plant, now run by Mondelez, still produces roughly a million Milka tablets a day, exported to some thirty countries and explained at the small Milka-Lädele museum.
